Fall Essentials - My Must Have Neutrals

Today's post is in collaboration with Nordstrom. All opinions are my own!

Happy Thursday friends! Yesterday was my first day back in the classroom! As much as I loved it, I forget how totally exhausted I am after being back with the kiddos! I have the greatest group this year and know it's going to be a great school year!

The start of school definitely means fall is ALMOST here! While it's still warm, there is a crispness in the air, the leaves are slowly starting to turn and it's almost sweater weather! I've been stocking up on new fall pieces that I can wear now and transition into cooler weather! Free People is one of my go to brands for new seasonal pieces as they have the best neutrals that often come in a variety of colors. One of the reasons I LOVE shopping at Nordstrom is their wide variety of brands, like Free People, making them my one stop shop for all things fall! When shopping for fall, I am all about the basics, looking for neutral pieces that can be styled many different ways and layered up!

Chunky Knit Sweaters: I LIVE in cozy sweaters from September to March. I love chunkier knits because I can layer them easily and they are the perfect alternative to a jacket when the weather cools down. This cozy cardi has been my favorite lately! Despite the knit, it's heavier than expected and will be my go to all fall and winter long!

Comfy T-shirts: I'm all about comfort, and in the fall and winter a t-shirt is often my base layer, so it obviously needs to be comfy! This one comes in 5 colors and I want them all!! Not only is it ridiculously soft, but I adore the key-hole cutout which adds a cool touch that will be perfect peaking from under a sweater or cardi!

Distressed Denim: A great pair of distressed jeans is one of my year round must haves! I absolutely LIVE in this pair, and the best part? They come in multiple washes (see the widget below!) and are under $100! Pair your favorite distressed denim with sandals or mules now and booties and OTK boots when the season changes!

Classroom Style: The Perfect Back to School Dress

Today is the first day of school! I can't believe this is my 4th year of teaching 1st grade! I also can't believe that summer vacation is officially over...where does the time go?

My goal for this year is to share more of my work looks with you. My plan is to share at least 1 look every two weeks under the title Classroom Style.

Today's look is my first day of school outfit. One thing I love about teaching is that I get to go back to school shopping every year. Growing up I looked forward to BTS shopping everyyyy year. I loved picking out my first day of school outfit and surprise, surprise, still do! I love stocking up on easy dresses for this time of year, when it's still too hot to wear pants. The moment I saw this one, I knew it would be the perfect 1st day dress. I love the floral print, flowy sleeves and ruffle hem!

I bought these mules during the Nordstrom Sale after I wore my first pair to work all spring! These are the BEST shoes for the classroom as they are so comfortable and go with everything! I'm still undecided if I will wear these today or opt for a pair of espadrille sandals...there isn't much time left to wear sandals!

Fall Kimonos

Today's post is in collaboration with Nordstrom. All opinions are my own!

It's no secret that I am obsessed with kimonos! From spring to summer I throw them on over my favorite tanks and shorts or wear them as a swim cover up. They are easy to wear and spice up any jeans and tee combo. While perusing the Nordstrom website, I noticed SO many kimono options for fall! From velvet and fringe to rich fall hues, Nordstrom has you covered for taking this trend into the new season!

Two kimono trends I'm loving for fall? Velvet and duster lengths! While I love bright floral options for spring and summer, a kimono in darker shades with burnout velvet is an easy way to transition your favorite white tank and jeans into the fall. I am obsessed with the floral print on this option. The color combo is gorgeous!

A duster length kimono is the perfect way to make a statement! Take your basics up a notch by pairing them with longer length kimono. It's a great way to layer as a gets cooler and I don't know about you, but I always feel pretty fab with a long kimono trailing after me as I walk!
