Nerdy Chic

Sweater: Old Navy
Skirt: Old Navy (OLD)
Tights: Target
Boots: Steve Madden 'Miidori'
Bracelet: Jewelmint
Ring: Forever 21
Glasses: c/o Firmoo

A little known fact about me? I'm pretty much blind. Well not technically, but I have HORRIBLE eye sight and rely on contacts 24/7. Recently though, my contacts have been bothering me and I was forced to wear my glasses more frequently. Too bad my glasses were ancient and not so cute, making me want to suffer through uncomfortable contact wear rather than be seen in them. That's why when Firmoo offered me a chance to try out a pair of their glasses for free I was on board immediately! What I love about Firmoo is the fact that they offer quality glasses without breaking the bank. I've been in the market for a new pair of glasses for sometime and have been dying to try a bigger frame, but didn't want to spend the big bucks on something I was unsure about. When I received these, I was blown away by the sturdy frame and comfortable fit that was extremely comparable to my older, more spendy glasses. I will definitely be buying more pairs of glasses from Firmoo!

Are you in the market for a new pair of glasses or sunglasses? Firmoo has an awesome program where they offer your first pair of glasses for free...all you pay is shipping! Check it out HERE!

On an outfit note, I discovered this fox sweater at Old Navy last weekend and had to have it! I've really been obsessing over the whole fox trend lately and had to snatch this one up! I paired it with a chartreuse cord skirt, another find from Old Navy (a few years back, snagged it off the clearance rack of $3.99!), patterned tights, and my favorite Steve Madden Boots (birthday gift last year from the boy:) Paired with my awesome firmoo glasses, I was definitely feeling Nerdy Chic!

Favorite Things GIVEAWAY! {CLOSED}

As the year comes to an end, there are a few things that I have discovered this year that I must rave about and share with you!

Twenties Girl Style's Favorite Things of 2012

Caring Cowls : Created by my dear friend, Sarah, Caring Cowls is a donation fund designed to support various charities and organizations. All proceeds from the cowls go to a charity in need (right now the American Cancer Society). Cowls and other products are handmade and made to order. I fell in love with them last year and had Sarah make me a few in a variety of colors. These cowls are AMAZING for the chilly weather, as they are ridiculously warm, have a great fit, are machine washable and are absolutely adorable. Find out more about Caring Cowls and Sarah's vision HERE

Jewelmint: I discovered Jewelmint last year, but didn't make any purchases until this summer, when I became OBSESSED. I've never been a big jewelry buyer until this past year, and Jewelmint definitely contributed to this obsession. Jewelmint is a monthly subscription service that offers subscribers a jewelry piece at $29.99 each month. Each month, a new collection is released and they often have promo codes that allow you great deal's on the trendy, quality pieces. If you browse previous posts, you will notice Jewelmint makes frequent appearances on my blog:) Find out more HERE.

August Wrinkle: I'm always on the look out for new, cute online boutiques, and August Wrinkle was one of my best online boutique discoveries this fall! This small online boutique offers unique, quality pieces that won't break the bank and their seasonal lookbooks always offer fantastic ways to style their clothing. Every piece I own from August Wrinkle is in constant rotation in my wardrobe (see how I've styled some of their pieces HEREHEREHERE and HERE). You can really tell that the owners (Jana, is one of the sweetest people, who I've become fast email friends with...Hi Jana!) really take care in picking stock and make sure their is something for everyone!

Ebates: Shop online a lot? I certainly do, and Ebates makes this a lot easier by paying you to shop online! Sign up for Ebates, type in where you are about to make a purchase, click the link and you are on your way to earning a percentage of what you spent back. It's that awesome. Check it out and sign up HERE.

Yeah...I Really Own That: Linda from Trendy Teal

I was so excited when Linda from Trendy Teal agreed to be my December "Yeah...I Really Own That" guest blogger! I have been following Linda since I started seriously blogging in May. Linda has a unique style that definitely follows the Twenties Girl Style, by wearing what she loves, no matter the trend. Linda has a special way of connecting with her reader's, as she blogs like she is writing to her bff rather than the world wide web, which has gained her many loyal followers (myself included:) ).

So, on that note...please welcome"Yeah...I Really Own That" guest blogger for December...
Linda from Trendy Teal

Hey guys, Linda from Trendy Teal here. When Ashley asked me to do this post, I knew exactly which item to use for a "Yeah I really own that" piece. This ugly Christmas sweater that I thrifted last winter immediately popped into my mind. What possessed me to dig this out from the bottom of the musky racks and actually purchase it? I'm not sure...
I just know that I was enamored by the bold rose print and warmth it provided. And even though the appeal has worn off by now, I still can't let it go. Pairing it with skinnies is the practical go-to, so for today's outfit, I decided to try it with a skirt. Well, what better way to add some edge to a kooky sweater than a leather paneled skirt?
I'm sure we've all picked up an item at one time or another that we later regretted. But this one is something I've just learned to work with and has helped me get creative!

2 in 1: The Day to Night Dress

Guys. Seriously. I have been such a bad blogger lately! I could list a million reasons why I have been MIA lately, but the number one spot has to go to daylight savings. Daylight savings is seriously killing me, as I go to work in the dark and come home when it's dark. Luckily, my schedule through the rest of December is pretty tame and I plan on finally, finally getting back into the swing of things! Yay!

I am obsessed with dresses. At one time, most of my closest consisted of dresses. Today, while I don't have as many as I used to, a large chunk is still devoted to my favorite type of clothing. What I adore about dresses is how easily they are transitioned from season to season, and their ability to be layered with so many different pieces. I especially love dresses that aren't overly fancy and can be dressed up or down.

I was so excited to receive this dress from August Wrinkle and can't tell you how many different ways I have worn it! It is by far the easiest dress I have ever owned to transition from day to night. I credit this to the fact that it has an extremely flattering fit, is made out of a comfortable, pretty fabric and is spot on with the color blocking trend without going over the top. The soft neutral brown and navy are SO easy to style, making this dress my favorite layering piece this year.

Dress: 'Together Again Dress' in Taupe and Navy - c/o August Wrinkle
Sweater: Forever21
Tights: Target
Necklace: Forever21
Ring: Gifted
Boots: Target - get them HERE
Nails: Essie 'Skirting the Issue'

For day, and a simple work look, I put a bright, chartreuse sweater over the top, a chunky bib necklace, patterned tights, and short boots. I absolutely love the way the dress was transformed into a flirty, pleated skirt. I won't lie, I've re-created this look with the same dress, but have mix and matched different sweater/tight/boot combinations for outfits with the same feel.

Dress: 'Together Again Dress' in Taupe and Navy - c/o  August Wrinkle
Shoes: Target (? Old!)
Ring: Gifted
Necklace: 'Mad World' via Jewelmint

While I haven't worn this dressier version, I plan on wearing it out this holiday season. I love that this dress isn't over the top dressy, but looks "night out/christmas party" appropriate with a pair of heals and some pretty baubles. I am in search of a glitter waist belt to add to the ensemble for the perfect touch.  How cute would that be?!

August Wrinkle is currently having a '12 Days of Dresses' event (December 1st - December 12th). Each day they are offering one dress for %50! Check it out!

PS Love my dress? Snatch it up on the 10th for an extra %50!
