2 in 1: The Day to Night Dress

Guys. Seriously. I have been such a bad blogger lately! I could list a million reasons why I have been MIA lately, but the number one spot has to go to daylight savings. Daylight savings is seriously killing me, as I go to work in the dark and come home when it's dark. Luckily, my schedule through the rest of December is pretty tame and I plan on finally, finally getting back into the swing of things! Yay!

I am obsessed with dresses. At one time, most of my closest consisted of dresses. Today, while I don't have as many as I used to, a large chunk is still devoted to my favorite type of clothing. What I adore about dresses is how easily they are transitioned from season to season, and their ability to be layered with so many different pieces. I especially love dresses that aren't overly fancy and can be dressed up or down.

I was so excited to receive this dress from August Wrinkle and can't tell you how many different ways I have worn it! It is by far the easiest dress I have ever owned to transition from day to night. I credit this to the fact that it has an extremely flattering fit, is made out of a comfortable, pretty fabric and is spot on with the color blocking trend without going over the top. The soft neutral brown and navy are SO easy to style, making this dress my favorite layering piece this year.

For day, and a simple work look, I put a bright, chartreuse sweater over the top, a chunky bib necklace, patterned tights, and short boots. I absolutely love the way the dress was transformed into a flirty, pleated skirt. I won't lie, I've re-created this look with the same dress, but have mix and matched different sweater/tight/boot combinations for outfits with the same feel.

While I haven't worn this dressier version, I plan on wearing it out this holiday season. I love that this dress isn't over the top dressy, but looks "night out/christmas party" appropriate with a pair of heals and some pretty baubles. I am in search of a glitter waist belt to add to the ensemble for the perfect touch.  How cute would that be?!

August Wrinkle is currently having a '12 Days of Dresses' event (December 1st - December 12th). Each day they are offering one dress for %50! Check it out!

PS Love my dress? Snatch it up on the 10th for an extra %50!

I'm back! I am so sorry for being MIA this past week and a half! I took a break from blogging as I was working a ton and came down with a nasty virus. I literally came home everyday last week and climbed back into bed. Not fun. Anyways, I'm feeling 100% better and am so glad to be back!! I've missed you!

For me, November always marks the beginning of the most wonderful time of year. I get so excited about the holidays and enjoying all of the festivities, it's unreal. Therefore, upon receiving this top (Down by the Water top) from August Wrinkle, I was ecstatic. How much more festive can you get than sequin peter pan collar?!?! This top is SO adorable, and I'm SO excited to wear it this holiday season. What I love most about it? It is one of the easiest pieces I have ever owned to take from day to night wear.

I took it for a pre-holiday outing, pairing it with a leather skater skirt (Does this skirt look familiar? Remember it from THIS post?), a black blazer and leopard loafers. I'm definitely planning on being a repeat offender with this outfit without the blazer (see below) on a night out this holiday season!

Yeah...I Really Own That: Sarah from Caring Cowls

Every closet has at least ONE of those "Yeah...I really own that" pieces.
Remember when I shared with you my Yeah...I Really Own That piece and featured my Miley Cyrus Playsuit?

Just for a refresher: What is a “Yeah…I really own that” piece you might ask? It is a piece of clothing that you purchased at some point in time and are not really sure why. At the time of purchase it seemed like a great idea, but eventually you forget all of the reasons why/how it made its way into your closet and are left with only feelings of buyer's remorse or embarrassment. You would think these would be the first things to go when you have a major closet purge, but for some reason or another you just can’t let them go.

I recently decided that each month, I will invite one of my favorite bloggers to guest blog and share a"Yeah...I Really Own That" piece on Twenties Girl Style. Yay!

So, let me introduce my first "Yeah...I Really Own That" Guest Blogger for November...
Sarah from Caring Cowls

I have always loved dolphins.  So much so, I have had my same stuffed animal "Dolphie" (who squeaks!) since I was two years old.  Dolphie and I have such a strong connection that I actually threatened to stay in Mexico when I left him in a cab during a family vacation.  Thankfully, my dad went on a rescue mission across Cozumel and saved him right before we needed to board our flight home.  Obviously, I have an impenetrable connection to my Dolphie, and by connection, dolphins.

A couple years ago I was out shopping with one of my besties, Ashley (Twenties Girl Style blogger), and we saw these dolphin shirts at Old Navy.  Without trying them on or giving them a second look, we both purchased one.  I am sad to report that this shirt is not of the best quality.  It is very see-through and has an odd shape which can make it extremely unflattering.  I think I have worn this shirt twice (including this outfit) yet I am unable to let it go due to the "dolphin connection".

In an attempt to actually make this shirt wearable, I paired it with some skinny jeans, a jersey blazer, and some boots.  Due to the colder weather I accessorized with a soft yellow Caring Cowl (of course) and a freshwater pearl ring.  I finally found a way to make my childish shirt presentable in the adult world.

A few days ago, my sister took some family photos for our Aunt and Uncle and their family out at our family orchard. I haven't visited the orchard since this summer, and was awestruck by the beauty fall has created under the canopy of trees. I've always been a summer girl, but the tree's in all of their leaf changing glory had me re-thinking things...I think I'm sort of, kind of, finally falling for fall. Guys, it was seriously incredible. I so wish that you all could see it in person as these pictures hardly do it justice. I hope to visit again soon, so you might just see more photos from this location :)

On a style note, I am adoring these high waisted shorts from August Wrinkle! I have always wanted a pair of higher waisted shorts that I could pair with tights and boots for fall/winter and these are the PERFECT pair. I love how they fit and adore the cream and brown checkered print. They are going to be extremely easy to style, as they look good with just about any top, whether dressing them up or down. I felt very fall appropriate in this outfit, especially because of my chunky sweater and cozy cowl!

PS August Wrinkle is currently having a moving sale! Use the code ALOHAHAWAII to get %25 of your purchase. Valid until November 7th!!
